Backstory

One day after his retirement, Peter Hiltebrand was sitting with his wife at the breakfast table. He looked at his watch, stood up, and wanted to go to work. His wife said, 'Hold on Peter, you're retired now!' Fine. After checking all the electrical appliances and lights in the house, he offered to help his wife with the housework. After washing colored and white laundry together, he accidentally vacuumed up his wife's wedding ring and dropped a vase – a wedding gift from his mother-in-law – while drying. His wife thanked him for his help, but declined. He wanted to do something, but how?

How the idea came about

Peter Hiltebrand wanted to continue working instead of staying at home and annoying his wife. After decades of good work, he still had more to offer and wanted to keep working. In search of the perfect solution, he had a desperate conversation with his daughter Sarah and her partner Reto Dürrenberger, who ran an advertising agency in Zurich. At the meeting table, they unanimously agreed that many retirees in Switzerland must feel the same way. That's when the idea for an online job platform for retirees was born.

Successes

In 2009, we had no idea what we had set in motion. What started as a small coffee idea suddenly attracted great attention throughout Switzerland and even worldwide. We received interview and franchise requests from all over the world, and in the following years, we were awarded numerous marketing prizes recognizing our outstanding achievements. A major highlight was winning the SilverEco Award in Tokyo in 2019, which crowned us world champions in senior marketing.
